UPVC Fascia and Soffit Spraying: A Cheaper Alternative to Replacement

6 January 2026Newlook Protective Coatings

Faded or discoloured UPVC fascias and soffits can be sprayed to match your windows and doors at a fraction of the cost of replacement. Here is how it works.

Why Replace When You Can Spray?

UPVC fascias and soffits fade and discolour over time, just like window frames. The south-facing elevations tend to go first, turning from crisp white to a dull grey or yellow. Replacing roofline boards means scaffolding, removing old boards, fitting new ones, and potentially disturbing roof felt and ventilation. Spraying avoids all of that disruption and typically costs 25–35% of full replacement.

What Can Be Sprayed?

  • Fascia boards
  • Soffit panels
  • Bargeboards
  • Guttering and downpipes
  • Cladding panels

We often spray the full roofline at the same time as the windows and doors, giving the whole house a unified, fresh appearance. Matching everything in one visit is more cost-effective and gives a better overall result.

The Process

Fascia and soffit spraying follows the same professional process as window spraying:

  • Clean and degrease all surfaces to remove dirt, algae, and oxidation
  • Light abrasion to create a mechanical key for the primer
  • Apply bonding primer formulated for exterior UPVC
  • Two coats of UV-stable polyurethane topcoat by airless spray

The only difference is access. Ground floor fascias can be reached from ladders, but first and second floor roofline work usually requires a scaffold tower. We include all access equipment in our quotation.

Typical Costs

  • Bungalow roofline (fascias, soffits, bargeboards): £400–£700
  • Two-storey semi-detached roofline: £600–£1,000
  • Two-storey detached roofline: £800–£1,400
  • Guttering and downpipes add £150–£300

Compare that to £2,000–£4,500 for full replacement with scaffolding and you can see why spraying is the smarter choice for most homes.

Colour Options

Most homeowners spray their roofline to match their window frames — anthracite grey, black, or slate grey. White-on-white is also popular for homeowners who simply want to restore the original clean white appearance without a colour change. We can spray fascias and soffits in any colour to match or contrast with the rest of the property.
